A bunch of idiot politicians have whipped themselves, and a lot of just plain Americans, into a frenzy screaming “fiscal cliff”. Don’t know, don’t care, who started it, but it seems like the Obama bunch has successfully promoted a non-existent crisis. And a lot of “conservatives/Republicans” have suckered in on the farce. YES ! There are serious financial and economic problems. But all this frenzy from the President’s men (and women) and the House and Senate Republicans is just a bunch of crap.
To anyone with an IQ above their shoe size listening, really listening, to all the rhetoric… it’s clear there is nothing there except political-speak, bureaucrateese, government garbage. Compromise. Make a deal. Bi-partisan. All pure crap. None of the numbers that both sides are throwing around make any sense. None. Example: Some are talking about a trillion dollars in spending cuts.
But what they forget to tell you, or don’t want you to know, is that it’s not a trillion dollars this/next year. It’s a trillion dollars over ten or more years. Everything, I mean EVERYTHING, that they all, the President, the House, the Senate, Democrats and Republicans, have and are saying will not, WILL NOT, fix the problem. The problem is so simple. And these political “geniuses” will go to any length to not do the simple and correct thing. “Closing loopholes” in the tax code WILL NOT solve the problem. Raising or lowering the “tax rates” WILL NOT solve the problem. The government spends more than it takes in. SIMPLE. And the answer IS NOT to take more from the people. Not any of the people. Not the “rich”. Not the “middle class”. Not anybody. There is one exception… and that is those who don’t currently pay anything should pay something. That’s a whole other discussion not for this piece. The government simply must stop spending more than it takes in.
It’s really that simple. Yes. If the government “lived within its means” there would be a lot of “benefits” that would disappear. But the government has offered and provided those “benefits” when it knew very well it could not afford to provide such “benefits”.
I know… I know… I know ! The government can’t just immediately slash and, or, eliminate some of the “benefits” it has “legally” initiated and provided. So, do it over time. Make certain that “benefits” are available ONLY to those in need. NOT for those who are politically necessary. Attrition alone would eventually put the
“entitlements” at a sustainable level.
Don’t tell me the military can’t do as much or more on a smaller budget. You have no idea what the military literally squanders every year. It’s unbelievable how much money the military spends on crap that isn’t necessary but they insist that it’s beneficial. There isn’t enough space here to even begin to identify a multitude of wasteful, unnecessary things the military has come to claim beneficial.
Social Security. If this “program” was operated as originally intended, there would be a surplus of funds. But no, the government has “borrowed” all of the Social Security revenue for decades… leaving I.O.U.’s. In other words, the government made it “legal” to “steal” the Social Security money. And now the government doesn’t have enough money to repay all it has stolen “legally”. It would be so simple to make Social Security what it’s supposed to be. All that has to be done is adjust the qualifications,requirements, payments, criteria to be equal in today’s actuarial statistics and dollars to those of 1935.
It’s just disgusting that all of the politicians (as a group) in Washington, D.C. have shown once again how they can cause problems and then scream “crisis” when they have no way out. No matter what this current bunch does… it’ll be wrong. But they will do the wrong things and then congratulate themselves for “avoiding the crisis”.
Here’s what should happen. All you guys and gals in the President’s bunch, in the House, in the Senate… either do the right thing… FIX the problem… OR resign and go back where you came from.
Maybe. Just maybe. Eventually the White House, House of Representatives and Senate would be occupied by individuals whose only goal, mission, is to SERVE the people.
