I HEART RADIO – dumb, dumb, dumb

There has been a seemingly inexhaustible, frequently, used “I HEART READIO” by thousands of people on radio stations from coast-to-coast and border-to-border. Apparently, one radio broadcasting company has even taken the name “I HEART RADIO”, replacing whatever its previous name was. The question has to be……..how can the thousands of radio people people be so dumb, dumb, dumb? Very simply…..it ain’t ……I HEART RADIO……….it’s……..I LOVE RADIO. Didn’t just one of those thousands of radio people understand that the ideographic symbol of the heart was not, not ever, intended to be verbalized as the word “HEART”. Didn’t anyone understand that the ideographic symbol of the heart was intended, and used for centuries, to be a visual indicator of and for ……………….”LOVE”…..romantic love? The symbol has been in use for at least two thousand years. But it became widely popular in the nineteenth century. And then became wildly popular, world wide, in 1977 when New York State launched an extremely successful television, radio and print campaign to promote tourism. The ads used the ideographic symbol with the slogan……..”I LOVE NEW YORK”. It was created by graphic artist Milton Glaser. And, Steve Karmen composed the music jingle “I Love New York” that is now legendary. How can so many people who are otherwise deemed to be at least average intelligence be so dumb, dumb, dumb? Thousands of times every day, there are thousands of radio people who say “I HEART RADIO”. I just don’t understand it. What they really mean is I LOVE RADIO. So, why don’t they say “I LOVE RADIO”? Maybe this is simply an indicator of the decline in the level of “smart”.
