First……it wasn’t a debate. Don’t know what you might call it. But it, like all the other “debates”, Republican and Democrat, was not a debate.
Second……..what were called “moderators” ain’t moderators. They all, even the “friendly” ones, are nothing more than interrogators and adversary facilitators. Some are blatantly obvious antagonists. Wolf Blitzer did his usual thing of presenting himself as an authoritative intellectual…..self appointed and self proclaimed. Dana Bash was present for no apparent reason. Hugh Hewitt, who professes to be a conservative, showed what a disgraceful egotist he is.
Can someone, anyone, explain why any of the political parties, in this instance the Republican Party, lets a television network host, conduct and dictate the rules of the events? Seems to be a little curious. The political party that wants a “debate” should dictate the rules, host and conduct it. And, this is one place where the government should play a part. But the only part the government should play is to use the authority of the FCC to mandate every television (broadcast or cable) network and every radio station broadcast the debate…..all at the same time pre-empting everything…..no commercials……..just the event.
But that would be to logical…….too much common sense……too simple.
