United Press headline…….”US OK’S FIRST FACTORY IN CUBA SINCE REVOLUTION”. Then the article says the Treasury Department notified a “two man company” in Alabama that they are “allowed” to build a plant in Cuba. Since when can a department in the U.S. Government approve anything in Cuba? Since when does a U.S. citizen have to be “allowed” by any department in the U.S. Government to build a plant anywhere outside the U.S.? When was the U.S. Government given such power, authority? Did Congress pass laws to give the Treasury Department authority to tell a U.S. citizen where he/she can build a plant outside the U.S.? Okay there are some restrictions coincidental with different sanction policies set by the government. But “allow” is a mighty repressive word. Just another expose’ of how much power the U.S. Government has that we common people didn’t realize it had.
