Not Real American

What is a “real American”?

Well, there are minimum social, cultural, political, business, religious, educational, nationality, and financial standards, or norms, which might be considered when determining if an individual is a “real American”. Here are some of a specific individual’s “profile”. Let’s refer to her as “she or her”. You decide if this individual is a “real American”.

She was born in Waterloo, Iowa. Her father was a black man whose family had migrated from the Mississippi delta to Iowa. Her mother was a white woman. She went to integrated public schools in Waterloo, Iowa. She got a degree in History and African American Studies from Notre Dame University. She then got a Master’s Degree in Journalism and Media from the University of North Carolina. She then worked for three years for a Raleigh, North Carolina newspaper. Then worked for six years at a Portland, Oregon newspaper. In 2015 she went to work for the New York Times. So far she is a perfect example of what might be a “real American”. But then………in 2019 she showed another “personality, profile” which had obviously been developing for years. She wrote a series of articles for the New York Times Magazine. Now known as the infamous “The 1619 Project”.

That thrust her into the international spotlight because the articles were based on and replete with outright lies about American History. In April 2021, the University of North Carolina announced she was being hired with tenure to the Hussman School of Journalism and Media. This met with international outrage and the University of North Carolina changed its offer to a non-tenured five-year contract. Her lawyer announced in a letter to UNC that she WILL NOT take a faculty position unless it’s offered as a tenured position. The UNC trustees caved, folded, and in closed session voted to include tenure in the position offer. She refused the offer and instead accepted the offer of a tenured position at Howard University where she will be the “Knight Chair In Race And Investigative Journalism”.

Well……all that could be, might be, considered as a matter of good career moves. But, then she has her not-so-public opinions to add to her “profile”. She argued in 2019 that Cuba’s socialist government affords residents a utopian form of racial equality unmatched anywhere in the Western Hemisphere. Here’s an exact quote of one of her statements, “If you want to see the most equal, multiracial…..it’s not a democracy…….the most equal multiracial country in our hemisphere, it would be Cuba”.

Yup she’s referring to THAT Cuba.

She stated further, “ Cuba has the least inequality between black and white people of any place really in the hemisphere”. She said more, “I mean the Caribbean…..most of the Caribbean it’s hard to count because the white population in a lot of those countries is very, very small. They’re countries run by black folks. But in places that are truly at least biracial countries, Cuba actually has the least inequality”.

As early as 2008 she is known to have praised Cuba as “a gold standard example for other countries to follow”. She commended the communist country for its high literacy rate, low HIV infection rate, and bringing about the “end of codified racism”.  She stated, quote, “It manifests in what Cuba has accomplished, through socialism and despite poverty, that the United States hasn’t”. Reported here is only the tip of the iceberg of the history of this individual. Years of public comments and statements extolling the virtues of socialism and communism compared to America.

WOW ! is this the “picture” of a REAL AMERICAN?
