There is a crisis.
Call it an American crisis, a Constitutional crisis, a civil society crisis, a political crisis……or whatever label you want to put on it. There IS a crisis.
And the Democrat “figureheads” are causing this crisis. Pelosi, Schumer, Cortez, and some other high-profile Democrats are exposing their willingness to sacrifice life, liberty, and justice to try to get their way in the selection of the next Supreme Court Justice.
Some of the public utterances of those radical Democrats are nothing short of insane, stupid, even anti-American. Pelosi threatening impeachment, unspecified “arrows in our quiver”. Cortez threatening that McConnell is “playing with fire”. Some of the public displays by some Senators might ought to looked at as criminal acts…….even prosecuted.
Maybe not criminal but maybe just as bad…….some Senators who are up for re-election may be basing their vote on whether or not their vote will have an impact on their re-election. Example: It appears that Senator Collins of Maine is leaning towards not voting for a Trump appointee simply because such a vote by her would cost her enough votes to lose re-election.
On the other hand, Senator McSally from Arizona is proudly and publicly announcing her support for whomever Trump nominates and a speedy process to confirmation……regardless of what impact her stance has on her re-election. She has it correct.
Every Senator took an oath to support the Constitution. So….any Senator who votes for any other reason is, by their action, disqualified to be a Senator. And should be removed from office…..immediately…..not wait for the next election to vote them out of office. Now….for all these Democrats who are calling for “war”…….to delay the entire approval process to some time in the future which might give Democrats the advantage they want.
Not so fast. It’s possible for President Trump to invoke his Constitutional authority and nominate……..the Senate to do its Constitutional duty of “advice and consent”………all within a few days. Let’s look at the precedents. And there are plenty. How about these. It took only five days for Black…..fifteen days for Stone…..Frankfurter twelve days…….Cardoza nine days……..Roberts (Owen, not John) eleven days…….Hughes ten days…..Peckham six days……..Horace Grace one day………and there are more who were nominated and approved in a few days.
You want a shock? What about Salmon Chase nominated AND APPROVED the SAME DAY, December 6, 1864. What about James Byrnes nominated AND APPROVED the SAME DAY, June 12, 1941. What about George Sutherland nominate AND APPROVED the SAME DAY, September 5, 1922.
SO……SO…..Republicans….stand up…….be counted…….get some gumption……..get some gonads………win this war. That’s what you are supposed to do. WIN! Not buckle under to Democrat threats. SO…….SO…….Democrats……..stop your anti-American, unconstitutional. Criminal acts.
