The Terrorist slaughter in Orlando is supremely newsworthy. Simply must dominate and extend the news cycle. But……something very, extremely, disturbing happened that might be a critical “message”. The recently elected Mayor of London, England issued some kind of “mayoral decree” which bans certain, specific, female images from all municipal/public display/advertising. In common everyday language, Mayor Kahn is banning “sexy women” from public advertising. He calls it “body shaming”. Okay…..so there might be some limit to how much “sexy” is acceptable in public displays/advertisings. Just who the hell gave Mayor Kahn the authority to, by decree, decide what is “body shaming”? At the risk of being called an Islamaphobe……could the fact that Mayor Kahn is Muslim have anything to do with it? There are some American Protestant ministers, some Rabbis, some priests who might agree with Mayor Kahn that too much “sexy” in public advertising/display isn’t acceptable. But, so far, there apparently hasn’t been a mayoral or governor or presidential decree to ban, completely ban, “body shaming” advertising.
What’s next from Mayor Kahn?
